Faster response in Mehiläinen care homes with a locating nurse call system
Mainiokoti Kaisla in Espoo uses a locating nurse call system to ensure residents receive help without delay. The solution supports staff in daily work, improves response times, and increases safety for residents who need continuous care
Fast access to help when it matters
Mainiokoti Kaisla in Espoo is one of Mehiläinen’s care homes.
The unit uses the 9Solutions locating nurse call system to ensure residents receive help without delay.
The solution supports daily care work and improves response times.
Residents at Mainiokoti Kaisla are elderly. Many live with dementia or reduced functional ability, which makes independent living difficult.
“We provide enhanced housing services for elderly people,” says unit manager Sari Kauppinen-Hankaa.
Safety wristband supports daily care
The 9Solutions system was introduced when Mainiokoti Kaisla moved into its current premises in March 2018. The system was already in use in other Mehiläinen units.
“The safety wristband is our primary tool. All residents who are able to use it have one,” says Kauppinen-Hankaa.
“9Solutions offers several solutions, but in our experience the wristband works well in this environment.”
The wristband enables residents to call for help at any time, which improves both safety and independence.
A natural part of everyday work
At first, staff had concerns about adopting a new system.
Today, it is a routine part of daily work.
Alarms are handled in the same way as phone calls.
“Our residents press the wristband button when they need help, feel unwell, or want company,” says team leader Ene Polluks.
“In practice, it allows us to respond fast and communicate with residents in many situations.”
Automatic alerts improve safety
The system also generates automatic alarms.
For example, staff receive an alert if a resident leaves the premises without notice. The system shows which exit was used, which helps staff respond fast.
Reliable support for both residents and staff
Mainiokoti Kaisla highlights fast access to help as the main benefit.
“Residents receive help quickly when they need it,” Kauppinen-Hankaa says.
